The Pond Sprite appears in "Fearnot" from The StoryTeller. An underwater creature with lamprey-like attachments on his head, the sprite uses his daughters, the water nymphs, to lure travelers into the waters where he drowns them. The sprite attempts to do the same to Fearnot, but is fascinated by his "bird" (fiddle), and anxious to locate the source of the song. Fearnot directs him to Ireland.
