Porcupines are large rodents with sharp quills on their backs, which are used as a defense against meat-eating animals. Several porcupines have popped up in Muppet productions.
A female brown porcupine appeared in The Muppet Christmas Carol and Billy Bunny's Animal Songs. In the latter, she is played by Fran Brill.
An orange porcupine with light brown quills and a black nose appears in the Sesame Street story "The King Banishes the Letter P."
A dark brown porcupine helped Joel McHale demonstrate the word "prickly" in a Word of the Day segment from Season 42 of Sesame Street.
