Porcupines are large rodents with sharp quills on their backs, which are used for stabbing meat-eating animals.
In the Sesame Street sketch The King Banishes the Letter P, a yellow porcupine with light brown quills and a black nose got bumped into by King Peter the Persnickety.
There was also a porcupine named Wendell on Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas.
There were two full-body porcupines made for two Sesame Street coproductions: one was Espinete on the second installment of Barrio Sesamo, and the other one was Kippi Ben Kippod on Rechov Sumsum.
In the 1990's, a brown one was made for its debut on The Muppet Christmas Carol as well as Muppet Sing-Alongs: Billy Bunny's Animal Songs.
