The Prairie Dogs appeared in episode 402 of The Muppet Show, singing in the Prairie Dog Glee Club. The prairie dogs are compulsive thieves, and over the course of the episode, they steal everything they can find -- including Kermit's collar. They were voiced by Jim Henson, Jerry Nelson, Richard Hunt, Dave Goelz, Louise Gold, Steve Whitmire and Kathryn Mullen.
One of the puppets was used as a groundhog (performed by Kevin Clash) on Neat Stuff To Know & To Do.
They were used as the Gophers in the sing along video, Billy Bunny's Animal Songs. They have no trouble telling each other apart, even though they look identical, and explain their differences by singing "We Are Different" to Billy Bunny.
Two of the puppets were recycled (with added whiskers) as Pummel and Pop for the test pilot of Bear in the Big Blue House, before they became Pip and Pop for the series proper. Another puppet was repurposed as Joe the Legal Weasel.
