The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. Billed as "unsinkable", the tragedy has been a point of fascination in the decades following, inspiring stories, documentaries, and movies about the event.

- During his comedy act in The Muppet Show episode 420, Fozzie tells a joke: "What do you get when you cross the Atlantic with The Titanic? Halfway!" Statler is not amused as he claims to be a survivor of The Titanic: "It wasn't funny then and it wasn't funny now." Waldorf jokes that Statler still has the dress he wore to get on the lifeboat.
- Fozzie tells the same joke during a 2014 appearance on America's Got Talent. Howie Mandel delivers the punchline. After no audience reaction he asks, "Too soon?"
