Randy Van Horne (1924-2007) was a singer and vocal arranger best known for his group, the Randy Van Horne Singers. By himself, Van Horne later supplied the trademark "Noo-nee-noo" voice of The Typewriter on Sesame Street.
Billed in their earliest years as the Randy Van Horne Swing Choir or Chorus, Sam and Friends used the group's version of "Down by the Old Mill Stream" (from the 1957 album Swingin' Singin) on the December 4, 1958 broadcast.[1] The Randy Van Horne Singers became on-camera regulars on The Nat King Cole Show, but were busiest off-camera, doing commercial jingles and vocals for several Hanna-Barbera series including Quick Draw McGraw, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons.
