Raya is a character created by Sesame Workshop for the "Cleaner, Healthier, Happier" campaign launched in 2014. The campaign runs in Bangladesh, India, and Nigeria, and is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Raya has appeared on Galli Galli Sim Sim, Sesame Square, and Sisimpur. She has also appeared in COVID-19 pandemic animated segments for Takalani Sesame.
In September 2014, she attended a No Doubt performance during the Global Citizen Festival concert. (video)
