Reinhard Mey (b. 1942) is a German singer, songwriter, and guitarist, primarily known for his work in the folk style. In 2013, he guest starred on Ernie & Bert Songs, performing his 1974 hit "Über den Wolken" ("Above the Clouds"), with some adjusted lyrics. He sang to Ernie and Bert while flying a prop airplane.
Mey began his recording career in the 1960s, releasing albums in both Germany and France (the latter as "Frédérik Mey"). He wrote his own material and made occasional TV appearances. Outside of his music career, Mey was heard in the German dub of Disney's Robin Hood as Alan-a-Dale (replacing fellow folksinger Roger Miller from the English version).
