
Renée Elise Goldsberry (b. 1971) is an actress and singer best known for her work on Broadway (winning a Tony Award as Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton) and in television. She provided the voice of the Yellow Palette for the 1997 Sesame Street Live show Elmo's Coloring Book and later performed the theme song for the 2018 version of Muppet Babies. She served as the musical guest for the Sesame Workshop Benefit Gala 2023.
Goldsberry originally performed in Los Angeles, working as a session singer and appearing frequently on Ally McBeal from 1997 until 2002, as a backup singer at the bar the characters frequented. She co-starred in the 2001 independent film All About You and appeared in episodes of Providence and Star Trek: Enterprise during this time. In 2002, Goldsberry moved to New York City when cast as a replacement for adult Nala in The Lion King (2002-2003). She also joined the cast of the soap opera One Life to Live as Evangeline Williamson (2003-2007), earning two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Returning to the stage, she originated the part of Nettie in The Color Purple and took over as Mimi in Rent (from June-September 2008, when the show closed). Further television included guest appearances on White Collar, Life on Mars, Masters of Sex, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent (three episodes as attorney Martha Marron). She recurred on The Good Wife as assistant state attorney Geneva Pine (2010-2015) and appeared in the 2015 film Sisters (with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler).
