Robby Merkin (b. 1951), also known as Robert Martin Merkin, served as musical director on Sesame Street from Seasons 25 through 30, and has co-written dozens of songs and hundreds of musical cues for the show.[1]
Merkin had previously collaborated with Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, directing and arranging music for Little Shop of Horrors — both the original off-Broadway production and the Frank Oz-directed film adaptation — and Disney's The Little Mermaid.
