Robert G. Myhrum (1927-1999) was a director for Sesame Street on an on-and-off basis spanning from 1970 to 1982. He won an Emmy Award for directing the show in 1973.

Myhrum began his career in the theater, and became interested in television after watching the broadcasts of the Army-McCarthy hearings in 1954. Myhrum started out as a mail clerk at CBS, and worked his way up to becoming a director.[1]

Besides his children's TV work on Captain Kangaroo and Sesame Street, Myhrum also had a long career directing soap operas, including The Doctors, Love of Life, The Secret Storm, Ryan's Hope, Days of Our Lives and As the World Turns.

When he retired from television, Myhrum worked in local theater in Vermont and Florida, and served as an adviser on television for the National Endowment of the Arts.[2]
