DEBUT | 1991 |
A robin was interviewed by Elmo in the Elmo's World episode "Birds," performed by Stephanie D'Abruzzo.
The puppet (usually with different eyes) has been used on Sesame Street since the early 1990s. The robin notably appeared in a sketch alongside Robin Williams, where they observe how similar they are. Performed by Kevin Clash, the robin's squeaky voice drops to a baritone when he croons "Lullaby of Birdland." (First: Episode 2848)
The robin also appeared as the announcer for the recurring sketch "Theater in the Park," performed alternately by Martin P. Robinson or Joey Mazzarino. In a Sesamestreet.org video, Pam Arciero performed the robin as one of Telly's friends, who uses his computer to find a fast way to fly south for the winter.
A whole flock of Muppet robins appeared in the song "Counting Robins" with The Count, and a family of three robins appeared in a Super Grover 2.0 segment about pulleys. (First: Episode 4224)
Other appearances by the robin include the main storyline of Episode 4265 as a member of the Good Birds Club (performed again by D'Abruzzo), and the Fifth Harmony song "That's Music."
