Robinson Crusoe is a novel by Daniel DeFoe, published in 1719. It details the story of the titular castaway on an island and his survival (aided by the indigenous companion he calls Friday, and accompanied by his parrot Poll).

- In issue six of the Spanish comic book Epi / Blas ...y los demás, the story "El Nuevo Robinson" featured Ernie as Robinson Crusoe (complete with parrot) and Bert as Friday.
- John Crichton says that, as an adventurer, he's more Robinson Crusoe than Christopher Columbus, in the Farscape novel Dark Side of the Sun. He states that although "[t]here may have been no Man Friday," he's been accompanied by a variety of strange aliens.
- In Folge 2328 of Sesamstrasse (2005), Feli Felu and Pferd read Robinson Crusoe and imagine themselves on an island (where a parrot helps them to obtain food). They sing a song, "Robinson Crusoe," later included on the album Sing' doch mit!
