Rubén Blades (b. 1948) is an actor and musician who also served as the Minister of Tourism of Panama from 2004 to 2009.
Blades appeared as himself on Sesame Street in Episode 2211, visiting his friend Luis. He shows Big Bird how music can be made with common items, sings "Ayuda" with Piri and the kids, helps Telly Monster with his poem, and assembles the kids to play an assortment of percussion instruments.
His screen work includes appearing in Predator 2 (with Danny Glover), The Super (with Joe Pesci), Life with Mikey (with Michael J. Fox), as Diego Rivera in Cradle Will Rock (with Hank Azaria, Joan Cusack, and Susan Sarandon), and The X-Files episode "El Mundo Gira" (with Lillian Hurst).
