Samantha the Eel, or Sammy for short, is an eel who appears in Episode 1593 of Sesame Street. She spends the episode trying to find a group to be a part of, whether it be helping Maria in the Fix-It Shop or joining Bob's music class. Her duet with Big Bird, "May I Be Your Friend," is featured in the 1988 View-Master Interactive Vision game Oscar's Letter Party.
The puppet later appeared in the game show sketch Squeal of Fortune. He asks host Pat Playjacks if the game is Eel of Fortune. In this appearance, he was performed by Kevin Clash.
