Sammy Sosa (b. 1968) is a retired Major League Baseball player who is best remembered for his stint with the Chicago Cubs, where in 1992 he competed with Mark McGwire to break Roger Maris' home run record. Before joining the Cubs in 1992, Sosa began his baseball career in 1989 with the Texas Rangers, and then the Chicago White Sox. After Sosa left the Cubs in 2004, he played briefly for the Baltimore Orioles and his first team, the Rangers, before retiring.

On April 26, 2002, Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House visited Wrigley Field before a game with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
