Oscar makes two brief cameos as Big Bird sings "Everyone Makes Mistakes." In the first, Oscar sinks into his can just as Big Bird emerges from Hooper's Store. In the second, Big Bird knocks on Oscar's can and sings a verse as Oscar reacts and retreats into his can again.

Oscar (whose dialogue is prerecorded) tells Big Bird that he has a beautiful new pet who can fly. Big Bird makes two guesses as to what it could be, which are both segues into animal film inserts. Oscar finally reveals his new pet is a fly named Frank, who lands on Big Bird's nose.

Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (1978)
Big Bird and Oscar appear in four scenes together. In the first, taking place outside the skating rink, Oscar plants the idea that Santa Claus may not be able to fit through the chimney to deliver presents, which concerns Big Bird and Patty. Big Bird proposes a couple of ways Santa can come down the chimney to Oscar in two scenes during the "True Blue Miracle" number. Near the end of the special, Oscar enters Gordon and Susan's apartment to spring Big Bird a question about the Easter Bunny.

Oscar appears as one of Big Bird's visitors during his stay at the hospital, commenting that the place is so clean, it makes him sick. Later, when Big Bird and Maria arrive on Sesame Street, Oscar is the first person to welcome them home, announcing "Hey, the turkey's back, and he looks disgustingly healthy." Big Bird responds "Hi Oscar."
