"Santa Lucia" is a traditional Neapolitan song.
In Sweden, Norway and Denmark the song has been given new lyrics, so it fits into the winter-light festival of Saint Lucy. There are various versions of the song in each country. In Denmark the most common version is also known as "Nu bæres lyset frem" by Alex Garff.
In episode 16 of Sesamgade, the Danish co-production of Sesame Street, Elmo has difficulty singing the song and walking at the same time. He either forgets the lyrics or trips over his own legs. Luckily, Valdemar, one of his friends, teaches Elmo how to do it.
