Saturday Night is a 2024 film presenting a fictionalized account the night Saturday Night Live premiered on television.
Jim Henson is among those depicted in the film, played by Nicholas Braun. Appearing primarily in three scenes, Henson is often complaining to Lorne Michaels about the treatment he and the Muppets are given by the writers and the lack of any script being delivered to him and his team. Uncredited actors also portray Frank Oz, seen in Henson's presence occasionally, and Bernie Brillstein (making a quick cameo in someone's office).
New puppets of King Ploobis and Vazh from The Land of Gortch sketches are seen primarily in the sidelines and background of various shots, along with a rocky piece of the Gortch set. The puppets were made through Jim Henson's Creature Shop, built by Rollie Krewson.[1] Braun's portrayal of Henson is seen in an illustrated poster for the film, also featuring Ploobis and Vazh.
Elsewhere during the film, the stagehands mockingly write a makeshift sign to hang in the studio reading, "Children's Television Workshop."
