PERFORMER | Jim Henson |
DEBUT | 1961 |
Scoop and Skip are two Muppet characters who featured in a number of early commercials and PSAs.
They first appeared as Scoop Wilkins and Skip Others in a series of News Reports for Wilkins Coffee. Scoop headlines from the studio news desk, while Skip corresponds from all over the globe, typically referring to real-life current events of the time. One of the advertisements references then-President John F. Kennedy's trip to France in the spring of 1961, suggesting the pieces were produced around that time.
Beginning in 1965, the duo were the stars of a series of commercials for Wilson's Meats. The tone of these commercials were similar to the antics carried out by Wilkins and Wontkins, years prior for Wilkins Coffee. Serving as something akin to spokes-Muppets, they also hosted two Wilson's Meats Meeting Films for the company.
