Sesame Street's 50th season will premiere on HBO on November 16, 2019.
The season's curricular focus will be "the power of possibilities, empowering kids to take safe risks and learn from their mistakes."[1]
The season also introduces a new human child character, Charlie, as portrayed by Violet Tinnirello.[2]
Production
Filming of episodes began on October 15, 2018.[3] Production wrapped on December 14, 2018.[4]
Caroll Spinney's final vocal performances as Big Bird and Oscar were recorded for this season.[5]
Celebrities
Several celebrities visited the set during production of season 50, some of whom will feature as guest stars. Celebrities who visited the set during production of the season include Michael Che, Misty Copeland, Dave Grohl, Maren Morris, Charlie Puth, Thomas Rhett, and Chrissy Teigen.
During production for the season, celebrities taped "Sesame Street Memories" videos in California. Celebrities included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Terry Crews, Josh Gad, Kathryn Hahn, Colin Jost, Mindy Kaling, Olivia Munn, Busy Philipps, Seth Rogen, Paul Scheer, and Jason Schwartzman.
