Seiji Ozawa (1935-2024) was a noted Japanese conductor who has led several world-famous orchestras. During the 1960s, he led the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
From 1973 to 2002, he served as the Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. During this time, he made a guest appearance on Sesame Street, conducting Placido Flamingo and the All-Animal Orchestra in a rendition of "Italian Street Song."
