- "Little Bo Peep" - Count von Count helps Betty Lou as Peep count her sheep.
- "Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man" - Cookie Monster bakes cakes, then eats them and the pan, too.
- "Old Mother Hubbard" - Roxie Marie goes to the cupboard looking for something starting with the letter B.
- "Peter Piper" - Bert proudly polishes his paper clips.
- "Little Jack Horner" - Oscar the Grouch sits in a corner eating anchovy pie, shooing away Big Bird.
- "Little Miss Muffet" - Betty Lou, this time as Miss Muffet, sits on her tuffet, eating a bowl of stew.
- "Hickory Dickory Dock" - Little Bird climbs the clock to cry, "Cuck-oo."
- "Pussy Cat Pussy Cat" - Grundgetta takes the place of the pussycat, going to the dump and asking who wants to know.
- "Rain Rain Go Away" - Sesame Street monsters, including Herry Monster, want the rain to end so they can play.
- "Old King Cole" - Ernie takes on the role of Old King Cole, but eats only Healthy Food, including his bread, cheese and fruit, nicely stewed.
- "Jack Be Nimble" - In a nod to his "first and last" sketch, Grover takes on Jack in a hobbyhorse race.
- "Hey Diddle Diddle" - Bert watches out the window of his apartment to see a Twiddlebug fiddle, Gladys the Cow moo at the moon, Barkley bark, and Oscar bang spoons against his can.
- "Sing a Song of Sixpence" - Six Monsters, including Elmo and Telly Monster, dance in a version of the rhyme.
- "Mary Had a Little Lamb" - Prairie Dawn takes on the role of Mary, with not only a lamb, but also a cow, a dog and two furry friends (Grover and Telly).
- "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" - Elmo looks out his window at the stars.
Other editions[]
The book was reissued in 2009 by Bendon Publishing as part of the Storybook Classics series in honor to celebrate Sesame Streetβs 40th anniversary. The 2009 reissue features a full color poster inside the book. The 2012 edition removes "Old Mother Hubbard" and "Pussy Cat Pussy Cat."
In 2000, the book was reissued with the new title Elmo's Mother Goose, as part of the "Big Bird's Favorites Board Books" series. (ISBN 0375805419) This version also omits "Old Mother Hubbard" and "Pussy Cat Pussy Cat" as well as "Old King Cole" and "Hey Diddle Diddle."
The book was reissued again as a Little Golden Book in 2017, under the title Elmo's Mother Goose Rhymes.
