The Sesame Street 1978 Calendar was illustrated by Michael J. Smollin and published by Random House. The twelve months were illustrated with Sesame Street characters traveling "Around the world in 365 days" (a play on Jules Verne's classic novel Around the World in 80 Days).

- Smollin's artwork from this calendar, and altered variations thereof, were also used on several covers of the Japanese Sesame Street Magazine in 1979. Curiously, the February image (featuring Japan) seems to have gone unused.
