Sesame 50th special script pages

An untitled primetime special celebrating Sesame Street's 50th anniversary is set to air in November 2019 on both HBO and PBS.[1][2]

The special is reported to feature celebrity guests, along with "new takes on classic segments" and "visits from Sesame Street icons."[1] "The show’s cultural impact" will also be a focal point of the production.[2]

The special, written by Christine Ferraro, began production the week of May 14, 2019.[3] Known celebrity guests include Norah Jones,[4] Sterling K. Brown,[5] Joseph Gordon-Levitt,[6] Itzhak Perlman, Whoopi Goldberg, Patti LaBelle, Meghan Trainor, and Elvis Costello.[7]

In addition to appearances from current human cast members Alan Muraoka, Chris Knowings, and Suki Lopez, known returning cast members include Sonia Manzano, Emilio Delgado, Bob McGrath, Roscoe Orman, Loretta Long,[8] Linda Bove, Alison Bartlett, Olamide Faison, and Nitya Vidyasagar.

A secondary special celebrating the anniversary will also debut in the fall for PBS' pledge drive season.[9]
