Sesame Street Celebrates! was released on cassette by Golden Music in 1994 to commemorate Sesame Street's 25th anniversary. The album included guest performances by En Vogue, Little Richard, Marilyn Horne, Los Lobos and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
The album included eight tracks that had not been released before: the 1990s calypso-flavored "Sesame Street Theme," "Adventure," the Little Richard version of "Rubber Duckie," the Marilyn Horne version of "C Is for Cookie," the 1993 version of "A New Way to Walk," "Happy Tappin' with Elmo," "Elmo and the Lavender Moon," and the Ladysmith Black Mambazo version of "Sing."
The album's closing number, "Sing," was taken from the soundtrack of the 25th anniversary special, Sesame Street Jam: A Musical Celebration. In fact, the packaging says "Featuring songs from the PBS TV Special Sesame Street Jam: A Musical Celebration, and the Random House Home Video Sesame Street's 25th Birthday: A Musical Celebration."
