Hallmark has had a tradition of featuring the Muppet characters in their line of Heirloom Christmas ornaments since the early 1980s, but had never produced Sesame Street character ornaments until 2019, when the company acquired the license to celebrate the show's 50th Anniversary.
The line was started by offering three Christmas ornaments of the Sesame Street characters, some with sound, some with lights: Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and Elmo.
