Sesame Street Explores National Parks is "a multimedia parks experience for children aged 3-5 to promote science learning through experiences in national parks, local parks and backyards," launched in 2013. Elmo and Murray Monster star in short videos where they learn about nature from real-life park rangers.
Footage of Grand Canyon National Park and Gateway National Recreation Area is mixed into the segments, with one of two park rangers:
- Amala Posey, distance learning coordinator of the National Park Service's (NPS) Environmental Education Branch[2]
- Park Ranger Shalini Gopie, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, part of Gateway National Recreation Area[3]
