Sesame Street Fire Safety Station is the third edition of the Sesame Street Fire Safety Resource Book, produced for the Sesame Street Fire Safety Project. The kit contains updated skits, as well as a cassette with newly-produced stories and songs.
Scripted puppet kits in the book include "Bert Learns What's Hot," "Oscar Cools Down," "Cookie Rolls," "Oscar's Favorite Message," and "Strange-Looking Things." The book also contains a read-aloud story, "Big Bird Finds a Match," and the read-aloud "Cookie's Rap" (set to "Jack Be Nimble").
The kit was redistributed in 2005, with some updated logos and a CD replacing the cassette.
Stories and Songs[]
One of the more substantial updates from the previous editions is a two-sided cassette containing new stories featuring the cast from the show (including Telly Monster, Gina, Ruthie, Gabi, Miles, Baby Bear, and Baby Honker), along with new songs and existing songs from the previous kits (many of which are woven into the story tracks).
The stories include "What's That Sound?," "Telly Learns What's Hot," "A Fire Drill, A Fire Drill," "Baby Honker Rolls," and "Firefighter Ruthie."
New and repurposed songs include "Hot Things Burn," "Cool Water," "Stop, Drop, and Roll," "Get Out! Stay Out!," "Get Low and Go," "Elmo's Smoke Detector Song," "Exit," and "The Fire Drill Song."
On the cassette, the stories (and their associated songs) are all contained on one side, while the other side contains all the songs from this and previous books.
Spanish version[]
In 1997, a Spanish version of the kit, Evitemos Fuegos con Sesame Street, was released. Although it retains the "Sesame Street" branding, Abelardo Montoya from Plaza Sésamo is added to the cast.
The stories and songs are all re-recorded, with Maria, Luis, Gabi, Rosita, Abelardo, and his grandmother taking the place of the mono-lingual characters in the English release. The songs are also re-orchestrated to give them a distinct Latin sound.
