In a take on "The Princess and the Pea" story, Kermit is at the palace to cover the famous "Princess and the Cookie" story, where the princess has such sensitive skin that she can feel a cookie under ten mattresses. After the royal lackey brings in the tenth mattress and inserts the oatmeal cookie at the bottom of the stack, the princess (portrayed by Cookie Monster) lies down... and devours all of the mattresses.
Unlike most Sesame Street sketches, the music is done live as it punctuates the entrances and exits of both Cookie Monster and the lackey, as well as Cookie's feasting on the mattresses.
