"She'll Be Comin' on the Subway" is a variation of the song "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain," as performed in Episode 2964 of Sesame Street.
Polly Darton reads a postcard to Rosita and Susan informing her of the upcoming arrival of her granny Molly Darton. In anticipation, Polly, backed by her Git Along Little Doggies, begins to sing "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain," when she realizes it doesn't fully reflect city travel.
Polly instead launches into a version of the song describing how Molly will be walking around tall buildings, riding the subway (while being mowed down by departing passengers), and getting stuck in crosstown traffic in a taxi cab.
