"Shelley's Song"[1] is a song from Sesame Street. The song was originally written in Season 17 for Shelley the Turtle, describing how a turtle's shell acts as their house.
The song was recorded by Martin P. Robinson, but was not featured in any episode that season. It was attempted again to be slotted into Episode 2525 in Season 20,[2] where Shelley sings the song to Oscar the Grouch after being told to go home and not hang around his trash can.
The song eventually aired on the show as a film insert in Season 29. Now a more up-tempo song, Jerry Nelson recorded new vocals over live action footage of a turtle. This version is titled "Turtle Song" in scripts.[3]
