The first Store
Sien's Store is located on Sesamstraat. Described in early materials as a grocerystore, Sien's functions largely as a general store. The residents of Sesame Street visit Sien's regularly, including Tommie, who often helps doing little work or takeaway.
During the first season, in 1976, the store was a real store in a little town named Torn (a half Dutch, half Belgian town). For the second season they built the street and its store inside the studio, which slowly evolved into a more abstracted, colourful one.
The store is a gathering spot for all the actors and Muppets, where they share their problems, laugh and sometimes even gossip!
