Simon Jones (b. 1950) is a British actor who is best known for originating the role of Arthur Dent in the radio and television versions of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Jones made a cameo appearance as the "Ghostly Image" of the Magrathean in the 2005 film version, with effects by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

A busy actor on both sides of the Atlantic, Jones' other radio credits include the BBC adaptation of The Visitor and several "Seeing Ear Theater" web radio dramas. On television, he played Bridey in the acclaimed mini-series Brideshead Revisited and has guest starred on Oz (as Judge Kessler), Blackadder (as Sir Walter Raleigh), Newhart, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and As the World Turns. Film credits include The Meaning of Life, Brazil, Twelve Monkeys, Miracle on 34th Street, and The Thomas Crown Affair.

After the actor relocated to New York City, Jones' son Timothy (then four years old) appeared on Sesame Street in 1991, as one of the Kids.[1]
