Simon Jones (b. 1950) is a British actor who is best known for originating the role of Arthur Dent in the radio and television versions of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Jones made a cameo appearance as the "Ghostly Image" of the Magrathean in the 2005 film version, with effects by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
A busy actor on both sides of the Atlantic, Jones' other radio credits include the BBC adaptation of The Visitor and several Sci-Fi.com "Seeing Ear Theater" web radio dramas. On television, he played Bridey in the acclaimed mini-series Brideshead Revisited and has guest starred on Oz (as Judge Kessler), Blackadder (as Sir Walter Raleigh), Newhart, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and As the World Turns. Film credits include The Meaning of Life, Brazil, Twelve Monkeys, Miracle on 34th Street, and The Thomas Crown Affair.
