Sing-Along, Dance-Along, Do-Along is a title in the 1988 Play-Along Video series. It was recorded on March 15, 1988.[1]
Rowlf the Dog, Kai-Lee, PJ and some kids have fun singing and dancing. It features interactive sing-alongs including "The Monkey and the Kangaroo," "The Smile Was on the Crocodile," "In a Cabin in the Woods," and more.
Songs[]
- As a warm-up, Rowlf plays "Frère Jacques" on the piano while PJ, Kai-Lee and the kids clap
- "The Gobagoo Rap": Kai-Lee and PJ give the kids instructions for what to do "or you'll turn into a Gobagoo!" Rowlf does turn into a Gobagoo, giving him bright green feathers, and Kai-Lee and PJ have to guide him through the dance to turn back.
- "The Monkey and the Kangaroo": Penguins sing, to the tune of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", "The monkey and the kangaroo were running in the cold, and they sneeze and sneeze and sneeze and sneeze and sneeze." A monkey and a kangaroo act out the song. Then the penguins repeat the song, with a word missing each time, and kids are instructed to fill in the missing word with a silly gesture, with the help of a girl named Madzia.
- "The Crocodile": In an Egyptian setting, PJ sings about a lady riding a crocodile down the Nile River, and getting eaten. PJ is joined by a little girl named Mari who teaches the viewer to use hand gestures during the song.
- A raccoon, a ferret and a bunny sing a snatch of "Frère Jacques" to Rowlf, Kai-Lee and PJ, demonstrating how to sing high, low and "somewhere in the middle".
- "In a Cabin in the Woods": Rowlf sings about a bunny (played by PJ) who looks for shelter in the Luncheon Counter Monster's cabin, so the farmer won't catch him. Rowlf teaches the viewers hand gestures to use during the song.
- "The Elephant": A trombone player named Sid plays with Rowlf as PJ acts out a song about an elephant, joined by the kids.
- Another version of "Frère Jacques", sung by PJ as kids make funny faces.
- "The Little Green Frog": PJ and the kids sing about a little green frog, to the tune of "Boom, Boom, Ain't It Great to Be Crazy?" There are more facial expressions and hand gestures. Kermit the Frog makes a surprise cameo appearance, complimenting the kids on their frog impressions.
- "I Am the Music Man": Rowlf, Kai-Lee and PJ pretend to play musical instruments β piano, drums, flute, marimba, steel drums β to demonstrate the appropriate hand gestures. Then Rowlf sings a calypso version of "I Am the Music Man", with pigs playing the five instruments.
- "Over and Under": Rowlf plays the piano while Kai-Lee and PJ lead the kids in "over and under" movements.
- "You've Gotta Sing": Rowlf, Kai-Lee and PJ lead the kids in singing, hopping, sneezing, swimming, hugging backed up with characters from previous sketches.
