The remake

"Singing in the Shower" is a Sesame Street song where Olivia, Ernie, Big Bird, and Oscar sing about how they like to sing in their various modes of cleaning (shower, bathtub, birdbath, and mudbath, respectively.)

The song was later remade during the Season 30 production period. The segment went unaired, but was published to Sesamestreet.org for a time. This version featured Ruthie in place of Olivia, Steve Whitmire performing Ernie instead of Jim Henson, and a slightly re-orchestrated backing track. Despite these changes, Caroll Spinney's vocals for Oscar remain unaltered, while a portion of Big Bird's vocals are rerecorded.

An excerpt of the song is sung by Elmo, imagined as a mouse and elephant by Dorothy, in the Elmo's World segment "Bath Time." Baby Bear and Elmo sang a couple of verses of the song in Episode 4229.

Notes

  • In the original script for the segment, Bert was intended to duet with Ernie during his verse, and Grundgetta was to appear instead of Oscar.[1]
