In Episode 3585 of Sesame Street, a sorceress attempts to conquer a kingdom by casting a spell on a golden goose that leads to its inhabitants becoming stuck to the goose and each other upon contact. The sorceress announces that the spell can only be broken by the laughter of the kingdom's dour princess (Fran Brill) — a task which the citizens recognize as futile, despite the best efforts of the princess' father, the king (David Rudman).
The sorceress follows the princess and the king to Sesame Street and casts the same spell on Big Bird, causing him, Maria, Luis, and Carlo to all adhere to each other so that she may conquer Sesame Street as well. After several efforts to amuse the princess flame out, the spell is finally broken when Big Bird encourages the princess to remember the happy and funny things she recently experienced. Defeated, the sorceress returns in agony, sobbing, "What a world! What a street!"
At the episode's close, Big Bird attempts to cheer up the sorceress, first by noting how her magic can be used to help people (such as showcasing the episode's sponsors), then with similar methods he used to cheer up the princess. They make no progress at the episode's fade-out.
