"Spirit in the Sky" is a rock song about going to Heaven.
The song plays in The Muppets Mayhem episode "Break On Through" when Lips begins tripping on expired marshmallows. Following Moog's assurance that everyone will be fine, Lips uncharacteristically opens his eyes and looks to the night sky where he sees a celestial whale emerging from a portal, the planet Jupiter, various nebula, the USS Swinetrek, and stars aligning to deliver the message, "Save the World, Lips."
The track is a popular song used in movies such as Wayne's World 2, Contact (with Jodie Foster), Apollo 13 (with Tom Hanks), Ocean's Eleven (with George Clooney), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and a number of others.
