Squarespace is a New York City-based web hosting company founded in 2004.
On November 25, 2019, the company published a two-and-a-half minute video entitled "A Cautionary Tale" starring Oscar the Grouch. In the video, a passerby mistakes Oscar's junk pile for high art and, by using a Squarespace site to showcase it, he becomes an overnight sensation (to his dismay). The video, directed by Jim Jenkins, was partially filmed on location at the Museum of the Moving Image.
In conjunction with the video, a real version of Oscar's website was launched. The site offered 25 limited-edition art capsules created in Oscar's name by artist Justin Gignac for purchase, but are currently sold out; all proceeds went to Sesame Workshop.
