Stage Door Canteen is a 1943 musical drama film based on the New York City establishment of the same name. Set during the events of World War II, the film centered around romantic entanglements between soldiers on leave and some of the female staff of the canteen.

The film boasts a wide array of celebrity appearances, from quick cameos of Johnny Weissmuller and Harpo Marx, to full stage performances by Ethel Merman and Edgar Bergen (with Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd).

  • Footage from the film was utilized for Baby Piggy's "Celebrity Circles" game show in the Muppet Babies episode "Muppets Not Included." In an addition to one of the crowd scenes, clips of Bergen and Charlie McCarthy's act and Ed Wynn are lifted from the film (and redubbed).
