"Starfish and Coffee" is a song performed by Prince (then using the name ) in episode 201 of Muppets Tonight.
Using inspiration from the breakfast menu in The Commissary, the song tells the story of Prince's classmate Cynthia Rose and her favorite breakfast, "Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam, butterscotch clouds, a tangerine and a side order of ham."
The song was originally written for Prince's ninth album Sign โโฎโ the Times, co-written by his then-girlfriend Susannah Melvoin based on stories she used to tell of a girl named "Cynthia Rose."[1]
