Steve Carell (b. 1962) is an actor, comedian, writer, and director. He began his television career as a cast member on the short-lived Dana Carvey Show, and as a corespondent on The Daily Show. He is now well known for playing Michael Scott on The Office, and for his film roles in Little Miss Sunshine, Anchorman and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
He appears in Sesame Street's 43rd season, presenting the word "vote" with Elmo and Abby Cadabby in a Word of the Day segment.
Carell had previously been planned as a guest star for season 38. He was scripted to deliver "Word of the Day" lectures on the words "newspaper" and "tricycle," where were instead given to Matt Lauer and Alec Baldwin (respectively). An unproduced sketch would have also featured him as "Mr. Helpful Guy," a foil to Oscar the Grouch.[1]
