Stockard Channing (b. 1944) is an Academy Award nominated, Emmy and Tony-award winning American actress whose best known roles include Rizzo in the movie Grease and First Lady Abbey Bartlet on The West Wing.

In the early days of Sesame Street, Channing was featured in many of the Mad Painter sketches, as the victim of the painter's number obsession (her television debut). She played Miss Adelaide, the Swedish maid, in the Muppet special Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree and worked with the Sesame Street Muppets when they guest starred on West Wing in 2004.

When the West Wing episode was shot, Sesame Workshop filmed Stockard Channing, Allison Janney, and Lily Tomlin on-set dancing to the song "Dance Myself to Sleep" for The Street We Live On.

Channing's other film credits include The Big Bus (directed by James Frawley), The Cheap Detective (with Peter Falk), Bright Young Things, Practical Magic (with Sandra Bullock), Must Love Dogs (with John Cusack), and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (with John Leguizamo). She starred on two one-season sitcoms, recurred on The Good Wife, and did voice work on Batman Beyond (Barbara Gordon), King of the Hill, and The Cleveland Show.
