Storybook ABCs is a Sesame Street alphabet book that presents a scene from a fairy tale or nursery rhyme for each letter. Published in 2008 but reworking the 1980 book The Sesame Street Storybook Alphabet, it features a few classic Muppet characters, including Grundgetta and Gladys the Cow. Several entries are directly remade from the earlier book, which is why Lefty the Salesman sells the magic beans to Jack (Ernie in the original, Grover in this book).
Similarly, "the Frog Prince" story has the same concept (the frog returns a dropped ball), but it's changed from Kermit the Frog popping out of a well and returning the ball to a princess, to a princely frog lifeguard returning a soccer ball to Rosita at a pool.
The nursery rhymes and fairy tales included or referenced in the book are:
- Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary
- The Three Bears
- Jack and the Beanstalk
- Jack Be Nimble
- Hey Diddle Diddle
- The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs
