Stu Boombird appears in the third season Dinosaurs episode "Network Genius." A high-ranking television executive with the Antediluvian Broadcasting Company, Boombird struggles to program the new season with colleague Ted Hardshell. Stressed out by his job, Boombird prevents heart attacks by periodic shocks with defibrillator paddles.
After the failure of the new season, one year later, Boombird and Hardshell appoint Earl Sinclair as new VP. Boombird eagerly accepts Earl's ideas as the voice of the viewer, but later copes with the audience becoming too smart for TV. Coming to the conclusion that the network's ratings were at their peak when the Pangaean population was stupid, Boombird and Hardshell briefly consider drugging the population to make them dumb again (a tactic they don't have the budget for), then hitting everyone in the head with a brick. This causes Earl to berate the two as "evil", having discovered that they don't care what shows they put on the air, as long as they ensure ratings for the network.
Notes[]
- Boombird and Hardshell are spoofs of ABC executives Stu Bloomberg and Ted Harbert, respectively. The two served together as executive vice presidents of ABC Entertainment from 1989 to 1992.
