The classic tune "Swinging on a Star" was originally sung by Bing Crosby in Going My Way and won an Academy Award for Best Song in 1944. It has since been recorded by many other artists as well. Tony Bennett included a version of it in his 1998 album "The Playground".
Sesame Street[]
- On Sesame Street, the song was first sung by Susan and some Anything Muppets in Season 1 (First: Episode 0010). Susan dressed three Muppets as the animals mentioned in the song while she sang.
Muppets[]
- Rowlf and Jimmy Dean sang a duet of "Swinging on a Star" in the November 21, 1963 broadcast of The Jimmy Dean Show. The sketch appeared on the 2007 DVD release, The Best of the Jimmy Dean Show.
- Julie Andrews sang a re-written version of the song in her 1975 TV special Julie Andrews: My Favorite Things. She is joined by the Gawky Birds and the Clodhoppers (who are called "The Klunks" on this show).
