Was the Hansel and Gretel show ever actually produced? I could have sworn that both Designs and Doodles and The Works claimed it was designed and puppets built, but never actually came off. Or maybe they just meant a television version. Andrew Leal (talk) 22:37, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've seen pictures of the puppets and the stage, so I know it existed. I don't know if it was ever performed. -- Danny (talk) 22:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Aha, here's the Works quote, p. 25: "He also set about the task of planning an elaborate European-style production of Hansel and Gretel for a live audience, an attempt to work in the classical style that he had seen abroad. The production became, by his own later account, ridiculously complicated and he ultimately abandoned it." Of course the Works is not infallible as we well know, but unless we can locate a better source, I'll just reword it. And add it to the Hansel and Gretel page, come to that.
