[[Abelardo]] is still  being confused with the original [[Abelardo (reptile)| Abelardo]], which was a dragon (or crocodile). Although it's probably unlikely, if anyone actually saw the May 5, 1997 Sesame Street crossover with Plaza Sésamo, details on the appearance, and especially as to who performed Abelardo's voice (as I suspect, as in Shalom Sesame, a US Muppet performer voiced the part), would be appreciated. --Andrew, Aleal 03:06, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

I've got it on tape, and Euginio plays him. -- MuppetDude 14:37, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Aha. I gathered from some googling that Abelardo actually only spoke one or two English words, so that makes sense. If you could add more details about his appearance, it would help. Thanks! Alos, I noticed you changed the date of Loeza's recasting, which makes sense actually, but then when did Eugenio leave? The current listing has his departure after 2000, which is either a mistake (probably) or leaves a performer gap. --Andrew, Aleal 14:56, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
The last I've seen of Euginio was for the 2000 season; the most recent season has Hector supplying the performance. -- MuppetDude 18:01, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

I found the episode where Abelardo meets Big Bird on YouTube. Not great reception but a good episode. -- T.J. (talk) 15:50, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Hey, it was the best reception I could get at the time. :D -- MuppetDude 15:59, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Really? -- T.J. (talk) 16:00, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah; that's my copy, but a different user posted it. -- MuppetDude 16:04, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

His full name

The bird's full name is Abelardo Montoya. There was a thread over at MC on the history of the characters, and how he was originally named Montoya, but was confused with Abelardo the Dragon. -- MuppetDude 16:16, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

The bird's original name was Serapio Montoya but later changed to Abelardo Montoya because he was often confused with Abelardo the Dragon. User: julioherrera 1:54, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Abelardo's Evolution

Did Abelardo go through a major or minor evolution? -- Drillbit Taylor (talk) 06:31pm, August 29, 2011 (UTC)

Abelardo is still  being confused with the original Abelardo, which was a dragon (or crocodile). On the 40 anniversary of Plaza Sesamo, Sesame Worshop is saying that the character is 40 years when in fact, he is younger. It was introduced in 1981 with the name Serapio Montoya an later renamed. Is Abelardo the crocodile and his companion Paco the ones that would be 40 years old if they were still active in the show.Jcnegron (talk) 10:36, June 23, 2013 (UTC)
