Publication date[]

Discrepancies again (as has happened before). The original source for the date was Amazon, which claims a Sep. 1991 release date. I received a copy today, sadly sans cassette, since unlike the Muppet readalongs, almost all of the actual dialogue is omitted, just pretty pictures and simple sentences, although enough to indicate a few of the dances used; several are renamed, like "Dance of the Cupcakes," so sans tape it may be impossible to tell what they were. Anyway, the date is 1990 on the book, and also what practically every library database has. It's possible that, again, 1990 is just the copyright date and release was delayed, but I'm not sure Amazon's a very convincing countersource in this case, and so far it's the only countersource. So I'm going to change to 1990, but if we find evidence for a 1991 date (copies of Books in Print from the relevant years would in fact be great sources, or else an article or promotional material), we can change it (also, there were two releases of most of these, one through Astor Music Inc., then a re-issue through Golden Books, so the 1991 date may be the Golden Books one). -- Andrew Leal (talk) 01:30, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I wouldn't go with any Amazon dates from before they existed, which would be about 1995. For older stuff, it may not be accurate, since they would have retroactively built the page. I've seen Sesame records and CD's with a copyright year of 1969, which might be true for some material on the item, but the very first record didn't come out until 1970. So nothing to really add, except I agree with you, and I'll see if I can find a copy so I can see the tape. -- Ken (talk) 03:18, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
