This is a character who first appeared in classic animated sketches, is he not? — Scott (talk) 22:30, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Is this the same character as the one seen in the Old School: Volume 1 introductions? — Scott (talk) 06:18, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Looking into the matter, this becomes increasingly complicated. The design is certainly Roberts-inspired, and has the same Thurman voice as countless Roberts characters, but looking through it, their own design has been less than consistent. In addition to the man shown there, there's another guy; Thurman with a gruffer voice, and some coloring/limb differences, but close in many respects. The more nasal Thurman voice used in the DVD graced other Roberts' shorts. Adding to the confusion, I'd mistakenly thought the "Bob" design had also been used in a recent flash short, included on All-Star Alphabet and the show, but looking at it again, this chap (again voiced by Thurman in nasal mode) owes more to [[:Image:Robertsman.jpg|a character]] (gruff voice) in yet another 70s Roberts short. So, more digging may be needed, but it's undoubtedly clear that Sesame Workshop was adapting the Roberts style, in the character's look, the general set-up of the segments, and the use of the ubiquitous Thurman. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 16:10, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Huh. So should we take out the part about Bob being designed by Roberts? — Scott (talk) 17:11, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
I'd say just rephrase. It's patently obvious from his shape, the color usage (mostly white, with blobs of color for nose, hair, and tie), and the general movement that it's *inspired* by the Roberts characters. I'm just starting to doubt my initial assumption that it was an update of a specific one. -- Andrew Leal (talk) 21:00, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
